Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do I need a doula if a family member offered to help out the first week or two after my baby is born?
Yes! While family members are filled with well-meaning love, they also can come with lots of well-meaning judgement.
It's hard to relax when you're trying your best to take care of yourself and your baby when someone comments that your choices are not correct (in their opinion)
-
I have a hard time asking for help or I am a perfectionist, how will a doula fit in with my vibe?
This question was written for me! I am a "whatever works" kind of gal. I arrive at your doorstep with no expectation, only to support you in a manner that makes you feel the most comfortable.
I am equally comfortable with initiating as well as being guided. My focus is to flow with the rhythm of your family.

Will my partner feel replaced by a doula?
Doulas are in no way meant to take on the same role as your partner. Your partner knows you, your comforts, your emotions, and what you need better than anyone and will be a huge part of your birth. Doulas come with knowledge about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum that your partner may not have and help them find the best way to apply that knowledge to you. We love to work with partners, giving them tips for comfort measures and empowering them to be a part of the journey.
Client Love
- Mom of 2, Pleasantville, NY
We love Jennifer! She's personable, empathetic, and no-nonsense - a natural doula. My husband and I were both pretty clueless about infant care when our son was born, and Jen was an unflagging source of moral and practical support. She put the baby down for countless naps, cooked meals, organized baby stuff, did laundry, offered helpful tips and recommendations, etc. Before I was even officially her client, she put me in touch with a wonderful lactation consultant when I developed mastitis. Without their help, I think I would have given up on breastfeeding a long time ago (my son is now a nursing champ).
Being able to relax and enjoy these first few months with my baby has meant the world to me. If we ever have another, I'm letting her know the MINUTE we find out the due date to make sure we get on her schedule!
